YiXing St. Louis Copper Company Limited

MIGA issued $540,000 of coverage to the China Capital Development Corporation (CCDC) for its investment in a copper products facility in China. The project enterprise, YiXing St. Louis Copper Company, Ltd. (YSLCCL), is a joint venture between CCDC and the state-owned YuanShang Industrial Corporation of China. The project enterprise will produce high-conductivity oxygen-free copper products, such as rods, wires, and cables for use in motors and communications equipment. This will help meet the growing domestic demand for these products.

YSLCCL will employ about 100 local Chinese workers who will be trained in the oxygen-free method of copper production. The project will also contribute indirectly to employment in companies that supply the copper cathode and those that use high conductivity oxygen-free copper products in manufacturing. MIGA insurance covers CCDC against the risk of expropriation.
