MIGA concluded a reinsurance agreement with the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) to provide $2.21 million in currency transfer coverage to this Japanese firm. Toyota will assemble vehicles from knock-down kits in a facility in the Sindh region of Pakistan. In addition to significantly lowering the cost of Toyota vehicles to Pakistani consumers and saving foreign exchange, the project will directly employ 476 Pakistanis and indirectly stimulate the employment of many others to supply auto parts locally. Pakistani engineers, supervisors, and instructors will receive extensive training in Toyota facilities in other countries.
