MIGA issued a $11.7 million guarantee to Citibank for its $13 million investment in the expansion of its newly established leasing company in Turkey, Citilease Finansal Kiralama, A.S. MIGA's guarantee covers the risks of transfer restriction and expropriation of funds.
Citilease offers financial and operating leases and vendor leases to finance end-users. Most of the new equipment and machinery to be leased, which includes construction, medical, textile, and transportation equipment, will be produced locally. The funding line will create increased business opportunities for local enterprises and increase the availability of medium-term local lease financing maturities to small and medium-size companies.
