MIGA assisted Ciments Français, a French manufacturer, in the privatization and expansion of a cement production facility in the Czech Republic. MIGA issued $50 million of risk coverage against currency transfer, expropriation, and war and civil disturbance. Total investment in this joint venture is about $90 million. Estimated revenues for the host country include $12 million from exports and $29 million from taxes. The project will produce a higher quality cement than is currently available, helping to make the local cement and construction industry more competitive and stimulating the use of local raw materials.
