MIGA’s Chief Financial Officer is named a “Young Global Leader” by World Economic Forum

WASHINGTON, DC, March 3, 2010—Kevin Lu, Director and Chief Financial Officer of the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), has been named a "Young Global Leader" for 2010 by the World Economic Forum. The honor, established in 2004 by Professor Klaus Schwab, recognizes and acknowledges outstanding young leaders from around the world for their professional accomplishments, commitment to society, and potential to contribute to shaping the future of the world.

This year, the Forum selected 197 Young Global Leaders from 72 countries representing business, civil society, social entrepreneurs, politics and government, arts and culture, and opinion and media. The 2010 honorees will become part of the broader Forum of Young Global Leaders (YGL) community. The YGLs convene at an annual summit, to be held this year in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania as well as at Forum events and meetings throughout the year. These events enable YGLs to build a strong and diverse community, to engender a better understanding of the global and regional agendas, and to engage in initiatives to address specific challenges of public interest.

"This is a wonderful opportunity for Kevin to contribute his expertise to a community that is tackling a wide range of issues the world faces, many of which relate to issues the World Bank Group is addressing as well," says Izumi Kobayashi, MIGA’s Executive Vice President.

Lu joined the World Bank Group in 1999 and has served as MIGA’s Director and Chief Financial Officer since 2008. He manages MIGA’s financial reporting, risk analytics, corporate finance, investment management, resource management, and reinsurance functions. Lu is actively involved in the agency’s strategy and operations and works closely with the Board of Directors on finance, risk, and investment issues. He is actively engaged in the international discussions on the role of emerging markets economies in the post-crisis world, sovereign wealth funds, Chinese outbound investments, and international financial architecture.
