MIGA Vice President Visits Tanzania
Washington, Dar es-Salaam, August 26, 2014 – Michel Wormser, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA)—the political risk insurance and credit enhancement arm of the World Bank Group—will visit Tanzania from August 27 to 28.Wormser’s visit underscores MIGA’s continued support to the country’s development goals.
“I look forward to talking with the government and the private sector to see how MIGA can help mobilize private capital to create jobs and improve infrastructure—in particular in transportation, energy, and agribusiness," said Wormser.
Wormser’s visit is well-timed as MIGA has seen growing interest from foreign investors in Tanzania’s economy. Wormser will aim to identify key government priorities and underscore MIGA's role in facilitating foreign financing for critical projects, meeting with government ministries, banks, and other private sector entities to share views.
MIGA has insured nearly $185 million in private sector investment into Tanzania since the Agency’s inception.
Wormser will arrive from Lusaka and continue on to Nairobi after visiting Tanzania.
