Washington, Antananarivo, July 3, 2014 – Michel Wormser, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA)—the political risk insurance and credit enhancement arm of the World Bank Group—will visit Madagascar July 7-8. Wormser’s visit signals MIGA’s readiness to support the country’s development goals through private sector investment.
The aim of Wormser’s visit is to identify areas where MIGA can help the country mobilize capital for important projects—including those in the energy, transport, tourism and agribusiness sectors —and other job-creating enterprises that contribute to its development objectives. During his visit, Wormser will meet with government ministries, banks and private sector companies.
MIGA has supported private sector investment into Madagascar in recent years, including in the services and energy sectors. “MIGA is here to help investors return to Madagascar,” Wormser said. “Private investors will have a key role in creating jobs and accelerating growth in the country.”
