MIGA-Supported State-of-the-Art Linxdatacenter Opens in St. Petersburg, Russia
Launch Marks Important Step for Russian Commerce

WASHINGTON, DC, AMSTERDAM, ST. PETERSBURG, October 12, 2011— Linxdatacenter announced today its new data center in St. Petersburg providing state-of-the-art technology, including IT and connectivity services, will help promote modernized commerce practices in the Russian Federation. The Linxdatacenter, supported by the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), part of World Bank Group, is also contributing to the growth of technology intensive and knowledge-based industries in the country. 

 “Linxdatacenter has been serving the Russian telecom and datacenter market for over 11 years. This newest investment allows us to expand into the northwest region of the country,” said Jules Delahaije, the Dutch CEO of Linxdatacenter Group. “In a time of increasingly tight lending, MIGA’s backing of the investment was instrumental in allowing us to move forward,” he noted.

MIGA’s political risk insurance supports over $11 million in investment for the datacenter’s construction and operation. 

 “MIGA is pleased to foster the expansion of information and communications technology in the Russian Federation,” said Izumi Kobayashi, the agency’s Executive Vice President. “This level of technology and connectivity is a vital source of modernization and commerce. We expect the datacenter to make an important contribution to Russian development plans, especially as the country seeks to diversify its economy.”

The official launch of Linxdatacenter St. Petersburg will take place on Friday, October 21st.
