 MIGA Head Visits Jordan

Washington, DC, Amman, April 2, 2015—Keiko Honda, Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA)—the political risk insurance and credit enhancement arm of the World Bank Group, arrives in Amman on April 4 for a visit underscoring the agency’s support to Jordan.

The visit comes as the country continues to face challenges resulting from regional conflict. Honda will meet with government officials and private investors, including banks, to showcase how MIGA’s investment insurance can further help the country meet its development objectives.

“We are pleased to support inbound investment that has sustainable impact, especially in key infrastructure projects that can support the country’s goal of developing its considerable resources,” said Honda. “I’m here to raise awareness about how MIGA can contribute to further this growth and development.”

Since the agency’s inception, MIGA has provided $255 million in guarantees to support investments into Jordan in the manufacturing, water and wastewater, and agribusiness sectors. The agency has insured outbound investment in the manufacturing sector.
