MIGA Head of Operations Visits Cameroon

Washington, DC , Yaounde, February 17, 2015 – Edith Quintrell, the Director of Operations of the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA)—the political risk insurance and credit enhancement arm of the World Bank Group—will visit Cameroon February 18-20. Quintrell’s visit underscores MIGA’s continued support to the country as it seeks to attract private sector investment that will further its development goals.

Quintrell aims to identify areas where MIGA can help Cameroon mobilize capital for important projects, including those in the infrastructure, energy, and other job-creating sectors.  Quintrell will meet with government ministries, banks, and other private-sector entities.

Last year, MIGA supported investments in three power projects in Cameroon that will contribute to the power sector’s stability, continuity, and recovery. The investments in the national electric utility and two existing power generation projects will help meet growing demand, enhance the distribution network, extend service to unserved areas, and improve the overall efficiency and operation of the sector. MIGA currently is also supporting a telecommunications project in the country.

“We have been pleased to support recent, significant investments in Cameroon and I want to make our continued commitment clear,” said Quintrell.
