Lakshmi Shyam-Sunder Joins MIGA as Chief Financial Officer

WASHINGTON, DC, March 15, 2011—The Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), a member of the World Bank Group, today announced the appointment of Lakshmi Shyam-Sunder to its senior management team.  Shyam-Sunder will serve as the Director of MIGA’s Finance and Risk Management Department and Chief Financial Officer.

Shyam-Sunder, a US national born in Iraq and educated in India and the US, joined the World Bank Group in 1994 in the Treasury of the International Finance Corporation (IFC).  Since then, she has held numerous positions in the IFC, including Director of IFC’s Risk Management and Financial Policy Department and most recently, as Director of Corporate Risk Management, where she led the development of a new client risk management advisory service for IFC. 

At MIGA, Shyam-Sunder’s top priorities will include overseeing the agency's portfolio risk management (including the roll-out of new products), financial reporting, integrated risk management, and administrative budget.
