Elena Palei Named Head of MIGA’s European Office

WASHINGTON, DC, October 31, 2014—The Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), the political risk insurance and credit enhancement arm of the World Bank Group, announced the appointment of Elena Palei as Regional Head, Europe.

Palei has worked at MIGA since 2000, bringing extensive experience on complex transactions worldwide—as well as managing relationships with a broad range of banking and corporate clients and governments. In her previous role as a Senior Underwriter, Palei led MIGA teams for a number of award-winning project finance and trade finance transactions. Prior to joining MIGA, Palei worked for PFC Energy.

“Elena’s combination of experience in development finance and her client-orientation makes her a strong leader of our Europe, Middle East and Africa team,” said Keiko Honda, MIGA’s Executive Vice President and CEO.

MIGA opened its Paris office in September 2011 to serve European clients investing in MIGA’s developing member countries. The office is co-located with the World Bank and International Finance Corporation and focuses primarily on supporting investors going into Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. While the team’s main focus is business development, it is also actively involved in underwriting, working closely with MIGA staff based in Washington, D.C.
